Acacia Gum as a Supplemental Food Source

Sugar Gliders are gumivores, meaning they are genetically designed to digest gums and saps. Acacia gum is a probiotic, soluble fiber which is essential for healthy bowel movements. In the wild, almost 40% of a Sugar Glider's diet consists of acacia gum and other saps, especially during winter months when insects are less available. Acacia gum is high in complex carbohydrates, an important part to a glider's diet. It is also a great supplement for them because they can digest about 90% of the gum, getting the most of it's nutritional value.
